Serving Those Who Served Us
At Healing Through History Inc., we recognize the profound impact that a full understanding of a veteran's story can have on an individual and their family. Our committees (programs) are intricately designed to explore the individual experiences of war and, if appropriate, their historical narrative and associated evidence analysis of their loss.
Recovering our lost veterans: Archival Research Committee (ARC)
At Healing Through History Inc, our dedicated and highly successful archival research team tirelessly seeks out historical documents, eye-witness accounts, photographs, historical aerial/satellite imagery, and government reports. Our mission is to help locate and honor the service members who are still missing-in-action from past conflicts.
Our Archival Research Committee can:
- Find and analyze historical wartime documents, eye-witness reports, phototgraphs, and aerial/satellite images.
- Research at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). We can research at other archives not easily accessible to the general public.
- Provide expert opinion on wartime aircraft equipment/wreckage, and relayed combat tactics.
- Translate historical documents from Vietnamese and Russian.
- Translate past loss locations to more accurate GPS-usable plots for on-site search.
See our Resources section for excellent links to online archival information and help.

If you would need help from the ARC, please submit message with a brief description of the MIA loss with general location, loss date, MIA name and loss details if known.
We will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please try again later.

Finding Our Heroes: Technological Innovations in Locating Missing-in-Action Service Members
At Healing Through History Inc, our Technology Application Commitee (TAC) leverages cutting-edge technology to aid in the search for Missing-in-Action service members from previous conflicts. Our commitment to honoring their legacy drives us to utilize and develop advanced tools such as satellite/aerial imagery databases, data analytics, and Artificial-Intelligence (AI) - driven interpretive systems to uncover vital information.
In TAC, we:
- Have the only comprehensive database (for public use) containing almost all aerial imagery (indexes) from 1935 to 1980 - data can be used to efficiently find and retrieve aerial images, especially Vietnam-era reconnaissance, from the National Archives and Records Administration, College Park II, facilities.
- Evaluate sensor technologies and analytic methods that may assist in finding missing service members.
- Have access to drones, near-ground sensors and techniques to narrow search areas for burial sites.

Supporting Families of Vietnam Veterans
Our long-standing Family Engagement Committee is dedicated to assisting families of missing veterans. We provide historical insights of a veteran's in-country experience and organize sponsored trips to Southeast Asia, allowing families to connect with their loved ones' past and honor their sacrifices.
Family History Research - Unearthing the stories of our ancestors requires meticulous research and a keen understanding of the past. Our "Family History Research" program provides families with detailed insights into their veterans' experiences during the Vietnam War. Leveraging a vast array of resources, from military archives to personal anecdotes, our dedicated researchers piece together the intricate puzzle of each individual's wartime journey, allowing families to celebrate, honor, and remember.
Journey to Vietnam - Embark on a transformative experience with our "Journey to Vietnam" program. We guide participants over the very grounds where their family members once stood, offering an experience to literally walk in their footsteps. Through visits to significant landmarks, interactions with local communities, and reflective moments in serene landscapes, this journey becomes a pilgrimage of understanding, respect, and closure.
For any member of the Vietnam Veteran community, including close relatives, wishing to apply for a grant to visit significant personal sites in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, please fill in the "Apply Now" form at the bottom of this section.

How to Apply
HTH provides two pathways to our “Journey to Vietnam” guided tours.
The first is the grant program. Subject to available funds from generous donations we assess the needs of each applicant against a set criteria which is based on a variety of factors. The key to this program is providing a statement where you tell your story on how the Vietnam War has impacted your life. We will then tailor your program to connect with your history. The grant program will last six nights and include economy air travel from one of the participating countries, transfers, quality 3-star accommodations, tourist visa (30 day max) and all meals.
These grants are open to veterans and their families from the participating combat forces in the war. These include the United States, Republic of Korea, Australia, Thailand and New Zealand. Our guides speak both English and Vietnamese.
The second program is our donor program. This program is for those that may not have a direct connection through family to the war but have an interest in it. It is also for those who may not want to utilize donated funds and choose to pay their own way.
After an initial interview, the grant program will be custom-designed to your area of interests. This is to ensure what you are interested in is reasonable and the area is accessible. The itinerary and costs will vary based upon your itinerary. These tours have the option to last longer than six nights.
